Byasatech – Technology services Company
Developed by Byasa Tech Solution Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with ARMMAN, a leading Indian non-profit organisation committed to reducing maternal and child mortality, the Swath Kadam programmer leverages technology to deliver cost-effective, live tele-counselling support to caregivers of moderately underweight (MUW) children aged 0–36 months. The goal is to prevent the progression to severe malnutrition and foster recovery through awareness, education, and timely intervention. The system functions seamlessly through a structured digital ecosystem involving field workers, counsellors, and supervisors—each playing a crucial role in improving child health outcomes.
The journey starts with trained field workers visiting communities, Anganwadis, and homes to collect key child health data using a mobile app. They record weight and other details, and categorize each child, Healthy, MUW, SUW, or Overweight, using who growth charts. All data is able to be registered in application including newly identified MUW cases. The app works offline and syncs automatically when connectivity returns, ensuring timely identification and intervention for at-risk children.
Once the data is synced to the server, moderately underweight (MUW) cases are assigned to counsellors through a secure web-based portal. Trained in early childhood development and public health, counsellors log in to view their list of cases and use the platform’s built-in calling system to connect directly with beneficiaries.
During these live phone sessions, counsellors offer practical, evidence-based advice on key topics like child growth, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, nutrition, immunisation, hygiene, managing common illnesses, maternal health, and family planning. They carefully document each interaction, track progress, and update the child’s record in real time.
If the beneficiaries chooses to receive communication via WhatsApp, the counsellor initiates a parallel channel where informative audio messages aligned with each counselling theme are shared—helping reinforce the guidance given over the phone. This blended approach ensures caregivers stay engaged and supported throughout the child’s journey.
At the final layer of the ecosystem, the supervisor dashboard offers a real-time view of counselling progress, beneficiary engagement, and child health outcomes. It helps identify trends, gaps, and regional variations. Once counselling is complete, the beneficiary moves to the Endline phase, where field workers collect final weight data via the mobile app. This data measures intervention impact and tracks changes in nutritional status. The entire journey—from registration to final assessment—creates a longitudinal record that supports program improvement and builds evidence for tech-based child health interventions.
