The Arogyasakhi program by ARMMAN is a community health initiative designed to strengthen maternal and child healthcare in rural/tribal areas of Maharashtra. In severely poor tribal districts where there is severe lack of or non-existent primary care system, ARMMAN aims to train “Accredited Social Health Activists” (ASHAs) to become Arogya Sakhis.
The program focuses on training existing community health workers (ASHAs) to become “Arogya Sakhis” who provide enhanced support to pregnant women throughout their pregnancy journey. The Arogya Sakhi workers provide help to pregnant women during their pregnancy.
In collaboration with Armman we have created dedicated mobile applications to assist in the process of improving Mother and child health programs being run in the regions.
We have developed an App- which is the primary application used by Health care workers. This mobile application guides them through the care process, helps identify high-risk signs and symptoms and gives alerts regarding the need for referral to health care centres. The app provides step-by-step guidance to help Health-care workers navigate the care process for pregnant women and infants, ensuring they follow proper protocols. It enables the them to identify high-risk signs and symptoms in pregnant women and infants, enabling early detection of complications.
When a health-care worker enters a mother’s/child’s parameters on her tablet, it raises alerts based on the diagnostic test results they perform.
The applications are designed to work with the diagnostic equipment that health-care workers carry and store the reading of tests conducted by them,Β including hemoglobin, blood sugar, urine parameters, blood pressure, fetal heartbeat, and anthropometric measurements. This integrated approach combines technology with hands-on care to improve maternal and child health outcomes in rural areas.
The data collected through the app is further made available on the web portal via various reports that allow the program team to analyze it. The analysis allows for the improvement of the overall program and thus improving maternal and infant health in the targeted regions.
If a pregnant woman/child is identified with high risk signs and symptoms the app gives an alert to the health-care worker which enables them to refer the pregnant woman/child to the appropriate health care facility for further treatment/examination.
We Also have developed the Supervisor app- This app is used by Supervisors/managers to create meetings and track health-care worker activity.
This app allows the managers/supervisors to view the health-care workers daily activity and if they have missed out on visiting any beneficiary. which in turn enables them to prompt the health-care worker to complete the said visit. This has enabled the program to improve the number of completed visits against planned visits and also gather data regarding beneficiary closure.Β
This data allows us to view the outcome of the intervention provided by the health-care workers.
